Thomas Strangways (1643–1713) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Thomas Strangways (1643–1713) Thomas Strangways (1643–1713) of Melbury House in Melbury Sampford near Evershot, Dorset〔(Melbury House (map) )〕 was an English Tory politician who served from 1673-1713 as a member of the House of Commons of England, then as a member of the House of Commons of Great Britain. He was initially elected from Poole but from 1679 held what was considered his family's seat (it had been held previously by his father, Giles Strangways, as well as by two earlier ancestors named Giles Strangways) as a member from Dorset. He stood down in 1713 in favor of his son Thomas Strangways (died 1726), and died on 21 December 1713. His brothers John and Wadham Strangways also served in Parliament as members for Bridport, as their father had before them. For the last years of his life, he was the Father of the House, succeeding Sir Christopher Musgrave, 4th Baronet and being succeeded by Richard Onslow, later 1st Baron Onslow. == References ==
